Question #3:

Factorise where possible.?

After the help I recieved in understanding the questions a posted earlier, I decided to post this since I don't have alot of work left to do in my booklet and this is puzzling me slightly. I am normally good at factorising but have done no maths since I left school so it would be helpful if someone a little less rusty could help out. Anyway here are the questions.

Factorise where possible:

8y^4 - 6y^3 + 2y^2

x+ 2 + x(x+2)

x(2x+3) - 3(2x+3)

4x^2 - 49

the ^ represents to the power of so 2^2 would be 2 squared.

I have answers for the second and third if anyone wouldn't mind checking them for me i'd be grateful.

Answer 2: (x+2)(x+1)

Answer 3: (2x+3)(x-3)

Not sure if i am correct so thought a post was worth it.

Question #4:

SAT/SAT subject question?

I am planning on going to a UC (University of California school) or if possible, Cal State Berkeley. I need an SAT score as well as two subject scores while applying.
I took the SAT already and got a 1970.
I have taken two subject tests also:
Biology and I got a 700
Math Level 2 and I got a 590
Now, here's the question. I am registering for the September SAT and I must choose to re-take the SAT or take more subject tests. I cannot do both before applying in November. Should I try to improve my SAT score or focus more on getting better SAT subject scores? Please help.

Question #5:

If you were my mom/dad, would you be proud of me?

I am 15.
Never did drugs, never smoke, never curse, never party and I have never drank alcohol.
I get excellent marks in school.
All through elem. school I made straight A's and never got in trouble. I have never talked back to a teacher or started a fight.

In grades 7,8 and 9 I made the highest marks in my whole grade and was on the honor roll each year. This year I am in grade 10 and I am taking alot of grade 11 courses and advanced math.

I plan to get a full scholarship(work towards one) and get an excellent paying job.
I don't dress revealing, I never wear makeup and I focus on school - not boys.

I know my mom loves me and she helps me with my work. She says she is proud of me.
My dad never talks about my life,my school work or my future. He doesn't tell me he loves me or pays attention to me :(
I feel like my parents EXPECT me to do awesome..

Question #6:

A lot of math involved in being an A&P mechanic?

Im gonna be enlisting as a blackhawk or chinook mechanic pretty soon, and from what other blackhawk/chinook mechanics have told me is, there job is not too hard math wise.
But they are doing basic maintenance, and any advanced work on engines of course are done by other people who's job it is specifically to work on engines.
but if I wanted to get my A&P cert after the Army, would it be even harder? Im not the greatest at math, but once I get out of the military, if I could work for a major airline or private company as an aircraft mechanic , I think that be great.

any helpful info?

Question #13:

Obama is going to cut NASA spending (less then .5% of the budget) to balance the budget?

Yet NASA isn't even .5% of the national budget. You can do the math and figure it out your self. The National budget in 2009 was 3.518 trillion dollars. Yet NASA budget was only 17.6 trillion Even if he whipped NASA out completely it wouldn't even even make a noticeable dent in the budget deficit of 1.3 trillion dollars. I don't even think it would cover the interest of the debt.

Further more unlike Social Security and Medicare (which combined is more then 60% of the budget) NASA funds a ton of scientific research that brings out discovery which creates knew products. These knew products produce things we can trade with other countries thus NASA pays for it's self. Not to mention if you follow science you will see we are very close to sustaining Nuclear Fusion which has the possibility of replacing every fossil fuel in the USA. How ever to sustain nuclear fusion we need helium 3 which is only in abundance on the moon.

SO how does this balance the budget?
If every little bit helps why do we give unemployment vacations for 99 weeks? a 10% cut in Social Security and Medicare would save over 10% of the Nation budget. Completely stop funding NASA (which produces money in the long run) you've cut less then .5% of the budget.

Question #14:

Math Problem. Can you answer it?

Question #16:

I need help buying a College Textbook Package?

So I'm buying my college books online and there are two books for my Math class. The first is the "required package" and the second is a "Package Component". I'm not sure if I should buy both. They both seem like the same book, just different year: example: 2nd Ed. 06 and 2nd Ed. 09. Should I buy both? Or just the required package?

Also this is the warning at the top. I don't know if it's just me, but it sounds confusing:
* Titles that are designated as "Package Component" are components of a required package used for your course. If you would like to purchase the entire package, please select it. If however, you plan on using only pieces of the package, some or all may be available individually. If you purchase only package components, you may save money if used copies are available. Be careful you don’t buy both.
