Question #2:

He wont get the wrong idea will he?

Well, I had an important question about homework for my English class (I didn't know what the password and I.D was to go onto a site for homework) and I texted my friends and all of them either were A. Not home and they would have to tell me later. or B. They didn't answer. My last choice was to go on facebook and to look if I had any classmates in the same class as me. There was one, a guy who I never really talked to, we just sort of knew each other in classes, but never talked to each other for about a year. I saw him on chat, and so I said, "Hi!! You're in my class (class here)?" He responded, "Yeah! I think I am!" I asked my question and I got the answer. Then when I left the chat all I said was, "Thanks SO much! Well, I have to go finish the hw, see you tomorrow!" then he said "sounds good" and I logged off....

Lol, sort of a stupid question/story, but I was just wanting to check if that wouldn't give any certain ideas to him (cause it was just a homework question). Oh, and we're in 10th grade.
LOL, no. I don't have any feelings for him. Maybe some friendship, but no more.

Haha, over analyze...I never really realized that I did that a lot until now!! haha

Question #7:

Do people know the difference?

Between someone who is Cuban, Puerto Rican, Mexicans, and someone who is Spanish? And Spanish speakers? Lately I have been seeing people Refer to People like Cubans and Mexicans as "Spanish" Yet, Spanish people are from Spain. I really don't understand how they could get confused or generalize everyone as being Spanish just because they SPEAK Spanish. It's not like people call Americans or Australians, English just because they speak English? Right? Mexican, Puerto Ricans are not Spanish they are Spanish speakers. Just like Americans are English speakers.

Question #8:

It's not that I don't trust my parents...?

I've been depressed recently and my mum caught me crying.

My mum thought it was her fault because my parents keep fighting so she started crying but it's actually because of my boy problems I've been experiencing.

My mum wanted me to tell her about how I feel but I just couldn't.

So my mum said that when my dad comes home he'll talk to me about it. I agreed cos my dad speaks english better than my mum (we're asian) so yeah. But still, I'm not very open to them. We're close but I need help on how I can tell them about my problems easier.

Question #9:

What is actually being done in this world about racism?

I'm currently living in Japan, and a friend of mine teaches english at a local high school, teaching 17-18 year olds. While doing a little play, one boy asked the girl (in english) "What does Korean people eat?" and she replied it with "S***" and everyone laughed. It continued with "What does Chinese people eat?" and another girl replied with "they eat everything."
I was disgusted. Back home, if someone in class said that, they will likely get punched in the face for being such a racist. (Probably parents would be called in, teacher yelling and punishing them) Yes, racism exists in every country, and I met many lovely Japanese people who are in love with Korea and China. But I'm appalled that they performed this in front of two teachers, and the teachers were completely okay with it!

I wanted to do some research on what is actually being done to abolish racism in grass root levels. Just because you change the law to say "no discrimination based on race" does not mean it works perfectly. Is there anything like teaching kids about racism etc, drives and events to promote and educate about how racism is wrong? Is there a group I could join to help promote eliminating racism?
Edit: I'm sorry for those who misunderstood. When I meant punch in the face, it wasn't literally. My point was that at home, it's generally understood that racism is wrong, and whoever says things like that is considered stupid or a jerk. The teacher would "punish" students by a telling off, and depending on the school, the parents would be called in.
Sure. I support freedom of speech, but if you utter BS like that to offend others? Well what would you do if someone called your loved one horrible names in front of you, would you say "you have every right to say that, so I respect that." or would you step in and defend that person?
And I think the question slipped off a little: So there really isn't anything being done to teach kids about racism? It's all just up to the parents? (who hopefully knows better)

Christians, do you agree with the pope's statement here about salvation?

Spoken by the pope: "Whoever seeks peace and the good of the community with a pure conscience, and keeps alive the desire for the transcendent, will be saved even if he lacks biblical faith", says Benedict XVI.

There's the "official spokesman" of catholicism.

Now let's hear from Jesus: John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by Me."

Anyone still believe that catholicism is Christian?

Question #15:

For Those of You Who Know German as a Second Language?

I am starting my first year of German on Monday.
From what I see, it looks confusing. I also felt that way about Spanish a few years ago but Spanish turned out to be super easy.
For those of you who learned German (not those of you who spoke German as a child because you'd be rather biased as I am learning it as an adult) - did you find it easy? Hard? Interesting? Fun?

Someone said it was a bit like English - I know that, like Spanish, there are cognates (words that sound the same from language to language) in German and English but does it make it easier to learn German if you already know English and/or Spanish (I don't know if Spanish would help much at all)?
